Spring time already and only 6 months to go before our 18th International Shanty Festival kicks off.
Artists
Keep an eye out for the full list of booked 2023 Artists which will be appearing on the website during this month. Once again we have an interesting and wide ranging assortment of performers and we’re looking forward to presenting them to you.
Shanty Marathon
Our 2nd Shanty Marathon takes place at the end of this month. From 12.00 28th April until 14.00 29th April there will be non stop shanties and sea songs at the Alma Inn. Coronation Capers
We have a special event planned to commemorate the King’s Coronation. On Sunday May 7th there will be traditional music, dancing and song commencing with Maypole Dancing on Harwich Green at 13.30 and moving off around the town to venues including the Alma, New Bell, Globe, Stingray and Ha’Penny Pier. Quizzes
For fans of quizzes we have two fundraisers coming up. On 17th April at the New Bell and 4th July at the Alma Inn. Both pubs will be donating to the Shanty Festival any profits from their usual quiz nights, so please raise a team and come along and support us if you can.
Merchandise
The Ha’Penny Pier Visitor Centre is open again for the Season and will continue to sell a range of our Festival Merchandise. Don’t forget these are also available by post. Visit: https://store.harwichshantyfestival.co.uk/ for details. At the moment we have Breton Tops, Zip up Hoodies and Mugs, but expect a new Shanty Song Book in stock soon. Designs are also underway for our 2023 T-Shirt which we hope to announce soon.
Visit Essex
We are thrilled to announce a new collaboration with Visit Essex. We have been chosen as one of the Top Five Most Unusual Events in Essex and will be sharing posts and publicity with them throughout the year. This new campaign goes live on April 18th .
