Hi {name}

The 2021 Festival might seem a long time ago now, but we must celebrate its success!

After an uncertain and shaky start at the beginning of the year, with the shadow of Covid lingering long upon us and our finances  in a perilous state, we spent many a sleepless night wondering whether to pull the plug this year. But in the end the 2021 Festival surpassed itself. Audience numbers were spectacular, bringing much needed trade to the town, ticket sales were up, our wonderful Artists worked their socks off and even the weather was kind to us, with a truly hot day on Saturday. Feedback was positive with many promises to attend next year and Harwich International Shanty Festival funds are back in the black! Planning for the 2022 Festival begins in earnest after Christmas and Shanty Crews interested in attending are invited to apply then. We do try to respond to all applications, but cannot guarantee inclusion, especially as we already have a backlog of promises to artists so far disappointed, due to the worldwide plague which still continues to make its presence felt. Dates for 2022 are 7-9th October so put them in your Diary now.

Merchandise

Sales of merchandise have gone extremely well this year, but there are some stocks left. To solve your Christmas present dilemmas, you can still purchase T-Shirts, Sweatshirts, Bandanas, Badges and CDs. All of these items are available from the Ha’Penny Pier Visitor Centre in Harwich or via our website: https://harwichshantyfestival.co.uk/merchandise/  to celebrate Christmas in style!!

Christmas Fundraiser

It has become a tradition to hold a HISF fundraising event in the period between Christmas and New Year. A family event which, whilst raising funds for the Festival also provides some festive fun for attendees of all ages. For many years this has been the popular Treasure Hunt but, due to the aforementioned plague, the Treasure Hunt took place, very successfully in April this year. And so we have decided for the moment to keep the Treasure Hunt in April and hold a different event this Christmas. Full details, plus fliers, posters and further advertising will be out in the next week or so, but for the moment save the date – 28th December  and look out for more information very soon.
