Our first newsletter of 2021!

Hi {name}

What a year 2020 turned out to be! I imagine most of us are somewhat pleased to see the back of it. So let’s look forward as best we can and hope 2021 brings us much better fortune. Wishing you all therefore a Happy New Year and as we navigate our way through the next few months, we at HISF hope to be able to bring you some positive news items to look forward to.

Online Auction & CDs

First we have to congratulate Graham Healey as the winner of our online auction for the original acrylic “In Dry Dock” painting, by local artist, Len Smith. Graham was the highest bidder and is now the proud owner of this super artwork.

And don’t forget there are just a few copies left of our second issue of the Dry Dock CD. Priced at £10 including UK postage and packing this is an excellent compilation of some of our favourite artists who have performed at HISF over the years. Full details on the website: https://harwichshantyfestival.co.uk/three-cds-in-stock/ together with details of our other two CDs currently on sale.

Annual Treasure Hunt

It goes without saying that we were disappointed to have to cancel our Annual Treasure Hunt at such short notice, due to ever changing Covid restrictions. However the good news is that it is still here, ready to run and in partnership with our good friends at the Alma Inn, we plan to hold the Hunt on the first Saturday after current restrictions are lifted. Whenever that may be! But watch all the usual channels for an announcement. At least we have something concrete to look forward to!

Plans for 2021 Festival

The continuing Covid crisis obviously makes forward planning almost impossible for everyone and our Festival is no exception. But we do have the advantage of being at the tail end of the year and it is still our intention to hold a 2021 Harwich International Shanty Festival. What form this will take is the question that is still exercising our brains and supporters of the Festival will have to wait a little longer before any announcement on this.

Meanwhile keep as safe and well as you can and we hope very much to be able to see everyone again before too long.
