Just about 4 weeks to go until the UK’s Premier Shanty Festival rolls into town again. And the committee are furiously busy with last minute planning for this prestigious event.
Souvenir Programmes
These are now available to download from our website: https://store.harwichshantyfestival.co.uk/product/2024-festival-programme/ and printed copies will be available within the next few days from the Ha’Penny Pier Visitor Centre and various other outlets.
Merchandise
Many of you will have seen that our 2024 T-Shirts are now available. Len Smith our resident artist has based the design on the very first HMS Harwich ever to be built at Harwich Navyard Wharf back in 1660. The ship was a Hoy, similar to today’s Thames Sailing Barges and the T-Shirt design portrays a typical 17th Century Hoy carrying 4-5 guns but engaged mainly in carrying supplies. Names of all this year’s shanty performers are listed on the back of the shirt. As usual, you can obtain your T- Shirt from the Ha’Penny Pier Visitor Centre or online: https://store.harwichshantyfestival.co.uk/product/2024-t-shirts/ A badge making workshop this week has produced this year’s Shanty badges, based on the same HMS Harwich design and don’t forget our other merchandise including the very popular new enamelled Cap Badges, Shanty Song Books, Mugs, Hoodies and soon to be in stock, festival beer cups and 2024 CDs.
Tickets
Tickets for all events went on sale this week. Visit: https://harwichshantyfestival.co.uk/tickets/ to purchase these. We have Barge cruises, concerts, workshops, films, shows and talks to choose from and a Season ticket for those who want to experience just about everything!
Shanty Bus
Another appeal for Shanty Bus drivers. We are still struggling to find anyone willing to drive our evening Shanty Buses, an essential transport option for artists and visitors forced to stay out of town due to lack of accommodation nearby. If you are interested in helping out please do get in touch via email: info@harwichshantyfestival.co.uk We are willing to pay late night drivers or offer a festival wristband for help in this area.
