HISF August Newsletter

Hi {name}

It looks as if Summer has finally arrived and certainly things in the HISF committee are hotting up as the 2024 festival draws nearer. Here’s a quick summary of how things are going.

Souvenir Programmes
These are being sent to the printers next week and will be on sale very soon. Our Social Media channels and website will announce as soon as they are ready. The Souvenir Programme is an essential guide to the Festival giving full details of all events plus times and venues and lots more besides. Ticket sales follow shortly afterwards.

Publicity Distribution

Our posters and fliers have been distributed far and wide this year due to efficient reorganisation. There are just a very few left and should anyone wish to help with the distribution please email us at info@harwichshantyfestival.co.uk

Caravan and Camping Site

Space at our designated Campervan, motorhome and Caravan site was sold out within a month and we regret there are no spaces left. Please remember if you are camping here that there are no facilities and so you need to be entirely self contained for the weekend.

Merchandise

Our new enamelled Pin Badges are proving very popular and can be bought from the Ha’Penny Pier Visitor Centre or online:
https://store.harwichshantyfestival.co.uk/product/enamelled-badge/ where there is also the option to reserve a badge to collect at the Festival. This year’s T. Shirts have been ordered and will also be on sale shortly. Keep an eye on the usual channels for news.

Accommodation
Finding suitable accommodation is always a problem in our small town but we have heard of a few cancellations meaning some accommodation is back on the market. We do have an Accommodation List available: https://harwichshantyfestival.co.uk/accomodation-list/ so if you are still looking please ask for this.

Shanty Trains

Tickets for the Shanty Trains are now available from Essex and South Suffolk Community Rail Partnership:
https://esscrp.org.uk/events/smugglers-shanty-special-train/  Catch either the 1059hrs or 1159hrs train from Manningtree to Harwich Town. With decorated carriages, shanty entertainment and pirates what better way to travel to the Festival?

Stewards
Finally an appeal for Stewards to help over the Festival weekend.  We can never have enough of them! There are always jobs to do to help the festival run smoothly and you will be joining a friendly team of enthusiastic volunteers and have the chance to see the festival “from the inside”.  We are also on the lookout for more volunteers to help with the running of the Festival during the year. The future success of the Festival depends on us securing more help and so if you feel you can lend a hand in any way please contact us on the usual email. We are of course grateful to all existing stewards and volunteers whose efforts do not go unnoticed!
