Firstly may we wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. News of the outside world continues unremittingly gloomy, but hopefully we can all find some good cheer to see us over the Christmas period.
Despite Christmas on the horizon, your committee have continued working apace, apart from a small celebration we allowed ourselves in the hospitable Alma recently. Now with 2022 all but wrapped up, we can concentrate on planning for our 2023 Festival.
Artists
Last month we launched a Crowdfunder to raise some money to help pay for the fabulous El Pony Pisador to return to the Festival. Those of you who have seen them before know how talented, energetic and engaging these Barcelonians are and we would dearly love to see them in Harwich once more. Several people have already generously sponsored our fund and we have obtained some private sponsorship as well. Please do support us in this venture if you possibly can and we hope to be able to announce very soon if we have been able to secure their visit. Murder Mystery
Our Christmas Fundraiser is back! Having had to cancel last year due to Covid uncertainties, we are pleased to report that on Friday December 30th we are staging a Murder Mystery Event in the old town of Harwich. A slight departure from our previous Treasure Hunts, teams will still be solving some semi cryptic clues to discover which famous Harwich Character is the dastardly murderer, where and with which weapon. Suitable for all the family, with eagle eyed children particularly valuable, teams can depart from the Alma from 12.00 onwards. Results have to be back by 15.30 ready for results and prizes at 16.00. Sad News
Finally it is with great regret that we report the passing of Malcolm Ward on 6th December. Malcolm has been a supporter and performer at the Festival since it began and will be much missed. He was a talented concertina player with a fine voice and was well known on the general Folk Music scene, singing playing and Morris dancing for many years. RIP Malcolm.
