Hope you are all keeping warm in this snowy weather! But if you’ve had enough already here are a few things to look forward to.
Quiz nights are always popular and here in Harwich we have quizzes at both the New Bell Inn and the Alma coming up very soon, with proceeds going towards the Shanty Festival. The quiz night at the New Bell is on Monday 19th March starting at 8.00 p.m. At the Alma you can test your brain cells with another wacky quiz on Tuesday April 24th, again starting 8.00 p.m. sharp. Get a team together or just turn up and we’ll find you one to join. Always good fun, a social occasion with the added incentive of proving your brain power and contributing towards Shanty Festival funds. There is more for you!
Easter is coming up at the end of this month and your Festival organisers have come up with a novel idea to incorporate an Easter Egg Hunt with an alternative type of Treasure Hunt – and all centred on Harwich Town. What’s more the Hunt will be in place for a full two weeks, giving entrants plenty of time to follow their clues. Based on the popular Geocache idea you will be able to pay and enter online and download the first clue, after which you follow a trail, proving your participation along the way until the final clue, when you submit your claim for a prize. Suitable for adults and children the Hunt can be entered solo or as a team and may well provide a diversion for the Easter holidays as well as a challenge to complete the course. Full details will be entered on the website later this month, including how to enter.
By now you will have seen most of the 2018 Harwich International Shanty Festival Artists entered on our website. Once again we have an eclectic mix of superb Shanty singers and crews, some old favourites, some new and dynamic, all talented and original. We pride ourselves on the quality of our top artists and strive to always achieve an interesting and diverse line up. Take a look at the website and check them out. There are just a few spaces left and these will be filled over the coming weeks, so keep checking back for up to date news.
